I tried to get a patch in between the chin cuts from yesterday which turned out okay. The throat is my tricky spot for some reason, and I didn't even touch it. I think my angle suffers a little there, and I need more muscle memory.

I love this kind of shaving though! I always hating shaving or was just indifferent to it, so this is very strange to have such a shift in thinking after so many years. It's kind of hard to wrap my head around looking forward to something I've never liked whatsoever, but always needed to do. The nice lather made with the brush vs shooting something out of a can is stellar feeling as well.
Take your time, no need to shave twice a day. Leave it for a couple of days, give some healing time.
Sounds like you are off to a good start.
I suspect that GD will lose favor rather soon with your incoming razors...

I went straight for whole face when I started as well no pun intended. It does take time but noticeable improvements seem to happen every 30 shaves or so. Your angle, stretching, and knowledge of your beard will get better. It is a journey that should be enjoyed not rushed. When starting, try for a close comfortable shave rather than attempting to remove every tiny patch of stubble. Nobody can see that spot you think you missed but can feel as you rub your mug.

Enjoy the trip down the rabbit hole.

    I hope so.

Either way, I'm still loving it, so it's a win-win

    Thanks for the tips.

I have a plan to keep it scaled back when I start shaving, but then sometimes the other me takes over. I'm glad being hard-headed didn't turn me into Scarface.

I went for the whole face myself. I'm only about 30 shaves into the journey but I think I'm doing OK. At least, I'm not embarrassed to go out in public. I'm not yet experimenting with ATG strokes. Taking my time. If I feel I need just a bit closer I usually just get out the Atra.

Yeah, the times I was messing with the mustache and on some of the chin with the GD I was coming across the grain, but I have ZERO temptation to try shaving against the grain. ZERO.

Of course I want to get at it at some point, but after today's first shave with this razor, I would have no idea how many times I will have already shaved before that comes up into my mind.

I know I felt enough of a difference with this razor to be afraid to do some of the across the grain stuff I already did with the GD. At least for a while.

I think I got away with a few things those first four shaves. I felt the GD catch a few times, and I got a couple cuts, but THIS razor just feels like a whole different level of, "be careful"

I can't wait till the morning when I'll have some more whiskers. [emoji12]

This is something that wasn't obvious to me in the beginning, but I found that if I'm moving the blade before the stroke, the risk of nicks/cuts is much, much lower. Static friction is your enemy! Also, I found that the easiest ATG strokes are done on my sideburn areas. It's flat and also easy to judge the angle of the razor there. It's also advantageous at this stage to learn to shave with both hands if you feel capable.

Pretty soon you will be slicing your strop(s) more than your face.

Yeah I've been trying with both hands the whole time.

My blade was static when I started that stroke that cut me today, but didn't think it until I read your comment

    Mmmmkay.
