Thanked: 0Pakistani razors - should I even bother?
Out of the box - they are not sharp at all.
Should I even try sharpening them or just toss em?
Also got two of their straps. I hope those are ok.
Did anybody sharpen them enough to shave successfully?
Thanks

Hello there the reason for the non-replies is no one is on right now
to answer your question, Pakistan razors aren't that great you can try honing it at see how it comes out or just keep it as a practice razor. some members here have had some luck with these razors.

dc-f-
do yourself a favor and go to the b/s/t forum here and pick up the razor that jalfa has for sale for $35. i have a couple razors honed by the same guy that honed that one, highly recommended. or for a few dollars more get that 9/19 genco wedge from ucliker. personally for a newbie i think that the stiff grinds are great. i have a nice 4/8 bengall wedge that shaves very well.
welcome aboard! the most important starting point is a shave ready razor.
cheers,
ryan

check out this post (it is the top sticky post in the newbie forum):

i havent tried one of those but it is on the no-buy list. i think there are plenty of oldies but goddies out there. if you want a good new, inexpensive razor try wojtec's wapienica on ebay. easy to hone and very good shavers for a very low price.
cheers,

I think you are lacking replies because it is hard to at the same time greet someone politely and tell them to toss their entire new purchase. There is a lot of great information in the newbie forum about brands of razors to own as well as good strops to buy.
There is a wealth of information here have fun meeting all of us and getting to know the art of the vintage straight razor.
