Thanked: 14The importance of staying focused!
After a few years away from dabbling at straight edge shaving, I've gotten back into it and have gotten faster and more comfortable. Typically, when I have a morning meeting, I'll do a pass using a SE and then clean up a bit with my DE before heading off to work. On weekends, I'm doing a couple of passes with the SE alone.
Anyway, I've been doing well lately, no nicks lately and starting to get a bit cocky maybe -- this morning, though, my wife was talking to me and I turned my head and pulled my lower lip along the blade... Sheesh, what a stupid move by me. After finally getting the bleeding to stop, I did go back and finish with the SE, at least. I figured I'd better get back on the horse!

Was your wife in the room with you? If so bet she won't talk to you while your shaving again. Mine won't even watch for a second let alone talk to me. She just doesn't want me to break concentration. I laugh at her but she's likely right. Anyway good to hear you got right back to it.
Keep your concentration high and your angles low!
Despite the high cost of living, it's still very popular.

Focused is for learning.
Once you learn you don't think.

I see after my post that it is in the beginners section.
I am not saying not to think while you are learning.
Think about walking or throwing a ball. When you learned these things you thought about it very much. I assume most of us here are adults and don't think about walking or throwing. It just happens.....
The same with shaving. Once it is learned you don't think about it.

Heh, it does command attention
I shave my head as well with my straights and in the beginning I found it hilarious to walk out in the living room before finishing my shaves to see my wires reaction.
