The shop I bought my 1st razor got it all wrong then. Guess I should have w8ed for Lynn's DVD b4 starting to shave straight. May be my shaves will improve even more if I do strop b4 the shave. Will try it out in a bit. Am getting ratty

Don't worry Nicolas, By the time you've managed to get through the DVD (two or three times!) and then read through much of this forum and its archive, you'll be many months into straight shaving and STILL readjusting your technique. And even then you'll learn and read things which most of the experienced guys on here still debate about.
It's a long road to travel, but my god what a great journey!
