Welcome. Lots to learn here. I’ve never used a shavette by my own hand so not sure how different it is to shave with one compared to a straight. Like has been said before, stropping is the most important thing to learn to do well first. Next thing is to look into a finishing hone or barbers hone to keep the edge fresh. As your stropping gets better the intervals for freshening up an edge get longer. I would spend much time reading and asking about hones before you pull the trigger on one, or many. Lots of options.
