Thread: Identifying materials of handles (Ivory and bone)

I am new to straight razors.. I recently bought one from an antique store and I thought the handle was bone or ivory but a friend believes it to be celluloid. Any help with this would be great?

Once you hold Ivory in your hand you will realize there is nothing that feels like it.

Of course you initially need to have some.

A pic would be very helpful to us to help you find your answer. Tom gave some great links to help you find out too. Welcome and take a little time to learn the forum. It takes a little but its not to hard to pick up. So as they say in MO, show me!
