Need for Acronym Sticky?
Hello. I've done a search for acronyms specific to these forums/shaving/honing/etc., and find lots of requests for help understanding, but no list . It strikes me that such a compilation, made into a sticky would be of great value to we newbies. As mundane as it may seem to the experienced, I know it would really help with the learning process, and cut down on the frustration of figuring out a new "language". Gurus? Please.

Thanked: 3Totally concur, although I managed to figure a lot of the language by myself. Certainly would help. Whenever I read a post, I would just stare at the acronyms and wonder, "wtf does that mean?" After learning different techinques and remembering which forum I was in, I was able to figure them all out, except for BBS, which I asked when there was a subject on it. Although I think at one point I did figure it out, but just forgot...

I agree with you!
Yea, some can be figured out depending on the conversation, but some people are just better at knowing what they are. I'm not good at that!!
YMMV, FWTW, etc., etc..
Thanks for the thread. I just haven't had the b*lls to speak up.

It would be nice to have such a dictionary of terms, but I suspect the only way you'll get something like that is for you to start the thread and seed it with some initial information... then ask people to contribute... it will grow over time into something useful. Once it has matured to a point, it can be made a sticky, or a reference document in the files section, or whatever.
IMHO, reading a dictionary doesn't teach you the nuances of a language... engaging in conversation, reading books, newspapers, magazines, etc. does. I believe you'll find the same holds true for the intricacies of str8 razor shaving... actively entering into discussions, asking questions, and reading lots of threads to observe terms and abbreviations in a variety of contexts will do more for your overall understanding than any "sticky" or "wiki" could ever provide.
