You're well on your way and doing a great job.

I did notice the shakiness and a little bit of uncertainty when you were trying to decide how to hold the razor and where to go next. This will all come together with time and experience. If you're not sure about something I suggest you put the razor down for a second, take a breath and plan what you are going to do next. Don't juggle the razor around from hand to hand right next to your face. That's only a recipe for trouble.
I would also suggest that while learning you rinse the lather off of the blade rather than wiping it on a towel. If you move the blade on the towel there is always a chance that it moves in a funky direction. This could easily slightly degrade the edge during the shave. No chance of that happening when you rinse.

Keep up the great work. It only gets better from here.

    Thanks Pete,

You’re right, I still need to get more comfortable with a blade but I do feel a lot happier than I did on shave 12.

You are right about not using the towel to wipe.

I am a bit worried about chipping it on sink or getting the pin and scales wet.

No, I don't get red. I don't do as many passes as you do, especially when there's no lather. No lube, ain't good.! At least a wet hand over the needed area, to slicker it up a bit.

Its why its called "wet" shaving, and not dry. I wreck a countertop when I shave. Always keepin my face wet, so the whiskers don't dry out.

I had the issue of red cheeks when i started. Too much pressure with the beginning of the stroke was part of it, the main issue was the angle at the first move. Too much. It was causing a shearing of the whiskers and not smoothly cutting.

Water is good and a little more would help ya. I dont sweat getting water on scales and pins. I dry it when im done and i will repin if i need too. Then grab the mop to clean up the floor. Lol.

Keep it up and work on controlling your strokes more. A little longer pull slowly will cause less irritation.

    Thanks Jerry,

Makes sense, I’ll use more water and longer strokes with less pressure at the start.

I have just found this on ebay.

I don't know much about SR yet.

    Is this worth considering?

If it stays in your price range it is a nice razor. I wouldnt call it special but decent. JMO.

Bit of a gamble. Looks like it has some pitting that's been cleaned up. If it extends to the edge could be a problem otherwise seems to have had little use.

I would say not to make so many passes with your razor. You arent getting graded on this. A nice comfortable, close shave is enough for me. You dont need four passes and a BBS shave. Most of mine are simple two pass shaves with the grain. It gets me nice and clean without all of the fuss. I am also a one hand shaver. No shame in using only your dominant hand, you just have to use some strange razor positions, but eventually you get good at it.

    Default Great info on lathering

Just spotted this page on the Mystic Water website. It has some very good info on lathering effectively.

    Hi all,

I have read it,you guys have said it.

So why did I leave the bathroom door open and start talking with my wife while I shaved.

Lucky I have fabric side on my strop to clean my blade when it gets red eh?

Must say though that my fabric side is starting to smell like meat

Incidentally, I have discovered what a square point will do to cheek if it isn’t stretched.
