Just finished First Shave!
Thanks to everyone who gave such important advice! Today was my first shave with a srt8. I followed the advice, did my research, and generally used every educational resource available out there. Then, with some admitted trepidation, I jumped right in! Yes, there's a learning curve, and yes it's a little intimidating. I gave myself some miniscule nicks and some very slight razor burn, but as a whole I am very excited! The shave quality for my first straight razor shave surprised me. I have several challenging areas and a tough beard, but the difference with a str8 is that you have much more feed-back. Like driving, riding, or flying, or any tool, they will tell you what it's doing and what you need to do. I feel my DE gives a more muted feed-back. Kind of like driving a Cadillac vs a Corvette. You can feel the road!
I'm looking forward to tomorrow! Thanks everyone involved!

With my DE my face was kept wet because the razor retained H20. As you know the str8 doesn't do this. So should I expect my face to dry out? Is this why I had some slight razor burn. If so, how can I fix this problem?

Thanked: 9Congrats!
I dip the blade in the sink after I wipe off the lather...
Btw, if you have some burn you may want to give your face a day of rest. Same for cuts that may open up
Cheers
