Thanked: 4How long
How long does it take most people to shave with a straight? I have been shaving with a straight for about a month now, and I find I am still taking 20-30 min to shave is this unusual?
Don't misunderstand, I do not begrudge the time it is relaxing in it's own way.

I have been shaving with a straight for a year now and I still take that long. My beard grows in all directions all over the place so it takes me a while. If you have a more normal growth pattern in time your shaves will probably take less time but I think 20 minutes is not that long really. Most people will tell you they shave in about 15 minutes so you are just a little above average.

As you gain experience the time will decrease. Most morning I usually spend about 10-12 minutes. Over time you find you will not experience nicks and all. You build efficiency and speed without trying. I try to speed up I tend to find I take more time. So I relax and enjoy the experience. I barely remember shaving with anything else.

Thanked: 13I think it takes me about 15 minutes (including soaping up, etc). Though if I'm going for BBS it can take me up to 25 minutes. So your not doing to bad really.

If I'm rushing and only doing one pass, I might get done before you, but if I'm taking my time with a nice multipass shave, it'll take me 25 minutes, including making the lather and cleaning everything before I put it up.

20-25 minutes for me.
From creating the lather to slapping some AS onto my face.
3-4 passes, btw.

Thanked: 335I used to do the morning shave in a long 10 or short 15 minutes, but have now stretched it to about 20 minutes. I still get to work on time and with this adjustment have saved a great deal of bloodshed and styptic pencil consumption.

About 25-30 min. Yes, I could do it faster, but why should I? I enjoy shaving way too much to cut it short.

Most of the time I spend about 10-15 minutes. But if I am going for BBS then its more like 25-30. I love every minute of it regardless!
