Thanked: 213Hi_bud_gl I have to agree you have been a member for 3 years but with only 4 post and then that offer you must admit it seems a little questionable

I would like to add to this statement that participation in a forum, not years of subscription, should be indicators of an individuals commitment to a community. If I buy a firearm...don't shoot it for three years, am I a better shot than the guy who goes to the range every day for 4 months?
Arora, I apologize for my statement, and I apologize to anyone else I may have offended including the original poster. I can see where you're coming from Arora...my second post was a little unnecessary and I will not post such replies in the future.
However, the criticism of my first post isn't unfounded because of the following reasons:
1) original poster has been a member for 2+ years with 3-4 posts
2) is offering free honing services to new members only
3) mentions references to important members...that may be untrue
Personally, I would rather question such a post and the OP intentions than to watch 3 new members fall victim to a scam. Hypothetically, if this were a scam...which, it may very well not be...three new members send out their razors and never receive them back.
How I view this:
1) It looks bad on the SRP community, because members who have been here for a while have a responsibility to question unfounded claims in order to protect new members
2) You have three new members w/ out razors, whose trust has been broken, and who now have to find replacements...and will certainly be offended
I would rather have a 1:3 upset ratio than a 3:1...

i hope this is my last post in this topic
This is my story .i started to use straight razor almost 3 years ago and get membership in old forum.at that time i didn't know how to sharpen straight razor and was struggling a lot until i find old site. lynn didn't have free time and i got help from Randydance(i think) . Randy did make 2 of my wade and butcher's shave ready and did charge for only 1 st, second one was free.Later on He did help me to get belgian hone. After a while i did find out Randy had healthy problems and that did touch my feelings.i promise myself the day which i would be able to help someone in this razor place i will do so.i have been very busy and almost never had chance to give back. Now i had chance i wanted help.My account hasn't been hacked or hackers wouldn't be interested to take 3 straight razor from new people.
I do remember another case of course long time ago.
there is 1 person by name i think is Bill he buys a lot razor i mean a lot.Once he bought same straight razor from same seller 3 times in a couple week period.i don't know may be he remembers this.
That is all i can say and good night all.

Could you tell us your location? Or general area? That would be a big in factor in deciding who to send razors to for honing...

Thanked: 3795Ok, I happened to be the first one to challenge your offer. However, I would like to clarify that I did not have any reason to believe that your offer was not on the up and up. I just felt that it seemed a little suspicious so I thought it best to invite you to clarify your abilities a bit.
I do agree with you that it is a tad unlikely that you would join the forum with the express purpose of stealing 3 razors 3 years after joining.
As someone who is woefully mono-lingual, I am amazed at anyone who is able to communicate an any meaningful way in another language. I don't consider your less than perfect English to be in any way suspicious.
Please don't go away because of our less than tactful response to your offer. I highly encourage you to PM Randy and ask him to vouch for you.
I hope that you don't wait another three years before posting again and please, let me be the first to say...
Welcome back!

Thanked: 2209Hello Bud! Long time no see!
Yes guys, Bud is for real. He started way back on the Yahoo forum and I believe he is making a sincere offer. If I recall correctly Bud was working on getting his American MD degree, he was already a doctor in another country and immigrated here. It was after he got that that his time became very limited. Internship perhaps? Bud trusted me enough that he sent me a YG Escher to try out which I promptly misplaced and forgot about for several months!
If any of you new guys need a razor honed then give Bud a try and let us know how the razor shaves.
Bud... you want to hone a razor for me? Just kidding!
The guys here are very protective of the newb's so please don't be offended. Good to hear from you again, call me anytime.Last edited by randydance062449; 04-21-2008 at 08:31 AM.

Thanks Randy for the update.
I must admit (even though I held off posting) that this did smell like an open 10 year old can of tuna. I'm glad it has worked out positively.
We have so many quality honing outlets which have already been well established that it's fair to say that we're already well equipped in that dept. Im sure more are welcome though!!
Come by the forum more though OP. Always good to see new faces with experience behind them.
