Just wanted to stop by and say welcome, Dan. Looks like you've gotten all the good advice and are all set up. Of course different people like different things, some prefer to start slowly with small investment and restored vintage razor, while others go all the way to the top shelf razors right from the beginning. Each razor will be different, but as many have reported you can get as good of a shave from a $50 razor as from a $1000 one. Of course there is a lot more than price and edge sharpness&smoothness that goes into the shaving experience, hence most of us spend insane amounts of time and money on this hobby May be you'll soon find yourself in similar situation.

As you're waiting read the various threads on this forum (all stickies are a must) and watch the parts of Lynn's DVD that are on the internet. You can also buy the DVD if you want to have it all in a single place.

    Good luck,
    Ivan

    There are $1000 razors?

My plan of action is baby steps. First, learn how to use and strop the bugger. Then get into honing. Then I'll look at maybe buying something a little more expensive. There is no rush for me. I'm 26. I plan on being around for awhile yet!

    Thank you!

I am preparing for the big day already. I'm leaving my face alone. Letting the hair grow a little. On Tuesday I'll go out and get some pre-shave oil and stuff and aftershave and then I'll be all set.

When it comes I'll make sure I take it nice and slow
