    Default Greetings from Finland

    Hello everyone
My name is Tony and I live in Finland. I have been learning to shave with straights about a month and must say that it's a really enjoyable way to start a day. I'm 41 years old and done most of my shaving life wet shaving with cartridges. Now I can only wonder why I'm not starting this thing much earlier but maybe it's still better than ever. And I have still many years left to enjoy straights.
I'm far away from expert of my english skills and don't hesitate to correct/ask if I sound sometimes a little hard to understand. Trying to learn that thing same time too.
    With positive thoughts

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Moi Tony! Where in Finland? My missus is from southern Finland (Riihimaki in Hame) so we visit her friends and family there quite often. In my experience, most finns think their english isn't good enough when actually it's very good, certainly more than enough to make themselves properly understood, certainly a million times better than my finnish (which consists of moi, kiitos and various swearwords I won't use here!).

Have you ever tried shaving after the sauna? I've only ever tried it with a DE so far but whenever I visit, I change my shaving prep completely and instead of showers and hot towels I just do a few rounds of sauna, lake, sauna, lake, sauna then lather up and shave - it's the best prep ever!

First of all thanks to all for warm welcomes.

    Hello gogw!
I live in Lempäälä, a neighbourhood of Tampere and 95 km from Riihimäki.
Oh yeah, sauna is a really good prep. It's a little bit slow but if I want to take an extra long and relaxing shave I warm up the sauna and shave after that. Much more easier to get BBS (even with cartridges) when skin is completely heated and bristles so soft than they can ever be. One benefit of sauna and löyly ( new finnish word for you, might already know that, hot steam) is that skin heat stays a longer time than with hot towels.
    talk soon

That's true and gladly I haven't had money illusion ever. One benefit of the aging is to realize that only way to save the money is to spend it as much as possible and just to enjoy the searching things to different purposes.
My wallet is already screaming help. Recession is rising also in here.
Well... Why should I worry ..... I start every morning with a good refreshing shave, pick up some cologne and will be ready to fight against problems till the day ends.
There are so much negative energies in the world right now that I'll keep my head up and keep on smiling.

    Welcome!
I like your opinions on life, money, and shaving. One day at a time and one shave at a time.

    Cheers to positive vibrations.
