THIS IS WHAT I CALL A FAST SHAVE!
Most likely you guys have seen this video from Germany, but it struck me how the gentleman shaves with such pro-efficiency! Being a newbie, I want to get to shave like that.
YouTube - Rasiermesser Rasur
My only observation would be that he's killing the brush by heating up the soap to get the lather. Am I right?
He even says: "HOT" when applying the lather.
Cheers,

Boiling water's no good for the brush, but I don't think near-boiling water's of any harm. I routinely use an electric kettle to make 190-degree water to soak my brushes for years now without fanfare. If it is hurting my $100+ units any I can't tell as yet.
That dude's a wizard with the straight no doubt, but must have more durable skin than I. He does ATG under the jawbone exclusively, and uses an agressive incidence angle in many cases all around his face.

I don't care what you skill level is or profession you just inviting a mishap. Just think about all the tradespeople who are missing fingers and other parts of their anatomy. Sooner or later that guy is going to cut himself but good or maybe he already has. You won't see that on a video.

Willi is an avid shaver.
He was not boiling the brush.
I don't think he specialized in being fast. It's just his personal style.
It's like playing guitar. You shouldn't worry about how low your guitar hangs, or how many notes per second you play, or how cool you look doing it. You'll find your own unique style after a while. It probably won't look like Willi's, but that's okay. You'll be your own man. A real one.
Welcome to SRP,
Bart.

No, don't worry about the heat of your water. Basically, if you can bear it, the brush can take it. In fact, I have a cheaper boar brush that I won't use until I let it soak in super hot water. I've had it since I started and it's held up quite nicely.
As far as the speed, just do what's comfortable for you. It might be dangerous to an extent, but he's likely been at it for a while and worked his way up there. I've saddled up to screaming two wheeled machines and literally flown them through all kinds of dangerous situations that might have killed me, but being experienced and comfortable reduced that risk. None of us ever start out being that fast, whether it's shaving or racing, we work our way up.
The moral of it is just shave within your abilities. Every one of us started out super slow and getting less than stellar results. With practice and time, you can do the "amazing" and get a good shave in the shower sans mirror in 5 minutes or so without killing yourself.
