I’d hesitate to spend money to have it honed – I can’t say it is unsharpenable because I have actually had experience with that brand, but the Krieger and Timber Rattler company it keeps is not a good sign. Also, don’t drive yourself crazy trying to learn honing on it. The stainless is probably so low grade that it will crumble before it will sharpen, an expert would be fighting a losing battle. You may be doing everything right, other than beating a dead horse. Get a cheap vintage with a good reputation, go back to the BUD-K as a challenge later on.
