I am in a similar position to you with regards to the shaving. I would recommend that you purchase a double edge shaver, if you can find one in an antique shop in your area while you are waiting on your order. The reason why I say this is a double edge demands some of the same things that a straight will and is excellent practice while you are waiting on your order. With a double edge the angel becomes a real problem unless its at 30 degrees and pressure can really get you cut if you don't get that right, so one of them are excellent practice.
