ebay is also an option, but when venturing out into that auction site one needs and understanding of what the item he is buying is realy worth. The item that you are looking for is typically worth $50 plus shipping for a carbon steel and perhaps $75 for a stainless blade. On that site you can find a lot of people that have one and have no idea what its worth and want to get rid of the thing as fast as possible and as a consequence are willing to sell the item at firesale prices. Offer him a token amount such as $1 plus shipping and see what happens, but never go near the prices I stated earlier, at that point go buy the item from someone like classic shaving.

As other have said, the classifieds section is probably your best bet to get a good, usable razor right out of the gate - it need not be expensive, because good steel is good steel - you get up in price for "better" brand names, finishes, and scale materials. Get something basic to learn on, and then let RAD (razor acquisition disorder) take over once you get the hang of shaving with a straight!
