Thanked: 235Disposable straight, great way to practice
My first experience with a straight was similar to yours, but I gave up. Then when I decided it was time to start again I bought some disposable straights to practice with. As they are one use only then throw away I was sure they were sharp enough. If it didn't work it must have been my technique. Then when I was happy with the result with the disposable straight I went back to my Dovo. From there it only gets better.

Thanked: 13245Update !!!!
OK GSansom sent the razor to me, I got it I think Tuesday, I put it through a full hone progression last night set the bevel on a Norton 1k then through the Shapton's out to 16k....
Thoughts:
Felt like a DA or a Wapi on the hones, it has no zing to the steel, I am not a metallurgist but I just know that razors have zing when you hone them.... Sorry that is as technical as yer getting from me
These razor's do take an edge, unlike a Zeepk, that the edge just keeps eluding you, this passed every honing test when it was supposed to, right out to the HHT with the wife's baby fine hair...
The only test that matter's:
I shaved with it this morning, yep it shaves, not anywhere near the shave I had with my Reaper yesterday, but it shaves.... where I moved the blade the hair disappeared, I went WTG, XTG, and even ATG nice smooth close shave .... How long the edge will last I have no idea..
Would I recommend buying one???? Not in this lifetime!!!, Wapi's are 1/2 the price and DA's are 1/5 the price.... but if you have one, they can be used...
I wouldn't even recommend taking the testing any farther as at a $55 price point it doesn't really matter....
Anyway GS yers is heading home to you all tweaked back upLast edited by gssixgun; 02-28-2009 at 01:17 AM.
