Default Seven Day Set of Razors?

I tried searching on this, but all the words were "too common"...

I keep reading about 7 day sets. Do a lot of people change razors every day? I'm assuming that is what this means.

It is a set consisting of 7 identical razors in a box, or similar container. The razors are named with each day of the week.
It was more usual in the old days, and looked upon as a status symbol. You can still find new dough.Ex.dovo 7 day set at classic shaving.Hope this helps.

I can't remember using the same razor twice in the same month or two or three.

I sometimes change razors the same day. Life's too short to wait till the next shave

I read on the internet somewhere (forget the source) that an edge takes 24-48 hours to "grow" after a shave. Left to rest the blade will reverse some of the bending that occured with the shave.
That source said that one of the reasons for a 7 day set was to give each razor a few days to rest between shaves.
I hate to paraphrase uncited sources, but I hope that helps.

That's debatable. I read that too, I think some members on here say that there's no evidence to support that. I keep a 9 day set in rotation. +1 Gugi, Life's too short....When I get bored with those, I'll swap them out with 9 different ones....

One thing I've learned in this thread... I need more razors! Two just ain't near enough...
although even of those two I have a favorite that I always use and not the other..

A seven day set would be nice in the sense that they would be all the same style and require no re-learning of the razor..
hmm... so what is it like to constantly be using a different razor? more prone to nicks?
I'm too new to this game to be drawing conclusions..
I guess it is one way to determine exactly what you like and then one can pursue further.
    Thoughts?

but poof, learning new razors is the most fun part. it's great picking up a razor that you haven't used in a few days knowing full well it's not going to feel like the one you used the day before. i don't EVER want 2 razors that are alike. too much monotony

This issue of the seven day set pops up from time to time. I just found this thread that perhaps would increase the learning even more... ;-) As far as I understand it, these sets were a good way to sell razors for and a symbol of status for users, "nothing more and nothing less". (quoting somebody in the thread).

    Al raz.

I don't have a 7 day set at present but I have had a few sets when I just collected razors and didn't use them. Regrettably I sold them years ago.

One thing I found interesting in sets I've seen is that many times only one or two of the razors were used and the others were left mint.

One set of Joe Rodgers a friend had was absolutely pristine. It was found in an attic behind some wallboard during a renovation.

I have two different two razor sets with the fitted case and all. One set is a Heljestrand and the other set are Wilkinsons. On both of these one is used and the other has never been touched to a hone.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
