    Default Wapi & member ???

    Can Anyone give me some info on the Wapi razors I see in the Vendors Corner forum being sold by KENRUP? What I am asking mainly is a Wapi a good starter razor and is price of $58.00 good because this seems quite reasonable if this brand is a good razor. As you can tell by the question I am very much a newbie and have been burned with a Zeepe in the past before I found this website. Thanks for any help that you can give. PACO

    I got a Wapi from kenrup as my first razor, I can't say its the cream of the crop but its a good shaver with out fancy anything but its head and shoulders far ahead of zeepk junk. I highly recommend it for a first razor.

    Smile Welcome, paco

    I have a Wapi and love shaving with it. It is a fine economy razor and $58 honed isn't a bad price. I like the french point and the half hollow grind even though the scales are a little heavy for my taste. The steel is terrific IMO.

    I own a Wapi and I am learning how to shave with it. It gets the job done and so far I have no issues with it at all. I am very happy I spent the money on it.

    Ken has strops too.

    IMO = In my opinion.

    AFAIK Wapi's are a good shaving tool. They have balance issues due to the scales, but so do the far more expensive Dovo's with stainless scales. If you go that way as a first blade you'll have a decent razor to get proficent with & you shouldn't regret it.

    Wapis do shave well. And while the scales are heavier than most, I don't think this is a problem for beginners. It might even be a bonus, it teaches you to hold the razor firmly.*

    I place my middle and ring fingers on the shank either side of the scales, and use those 2 fingers to squeeze on the scales. Because they are thin flat plates of steel, that gives excellent grip. There is no need to grip the blade itself tightly, so you get that flexibilty you need.

    (*Firmly but flexibly.)

    I have started with a wapi and they are a great first razor . Easy to strop because of the near wedge . But before long RAD will take hold . I just got a w&b from old school and i've only been using straights for a week!
