That's a shame about the Selective razors...but I know the heart was in the right place.
What kind of price are you willing to spend? If you look in the classifieds section here you'll see plenty of razors for sale. I'm sure the ones in the $50-$80 range will be great shavers, or if you want to spend more I'm sure you can get a really fancy one too.
If I were you I would spend around $60 max on my first razor, and I'm sure you can find a good one for that price. Maybe you can get a nice Wapienica razor from ruprazor, he's also a member here I believe...He also has Double Arrow razors there too. From what I know they are NOS (New Old Stock), so brand new, and will be an excellent razor for a beginner.
You can always spend a little more getting a brand new razor, a Dovo for example. But I think you could easily save money and just get a nice quality used one, that will shave equally as well, for a quarter of the price.
Just my 2 cents, hope that helps a bit!
