Default I had to try it!

I finally got my strop, a shave ready razor, so I had to try it with canned gel/foam. Not bad! I had to reapply, but no cuts or nicks. I went WTG and XTG. I can't wait to get my soap and brush!

Thanks, guys. My brush and soap arrived this afternoon, so tomorrow, I'm going to have a proper shave.

Let everyone know how the soap and brush go. It can be tough to learn what good lather is, but there is a ton of help. Search the newbie corner and the wiki or just ask. I struggled with proper lather at first but after some questions and a little digging I can now build good lather.

Thanks, guys. My luck, my nose is running like a faucet, I'm sneezing every five minutes, and I've finally got everything I need to start shaving... and I can't!

Ah, but you can practice lathering! Good lather is a luxury all in itself, even if you have to use a safety razor with it!

A trip to the doctor yesterday and two prescriptions, and I'm feeling more like myself. I tried the brush and soap today. The brush is a Fendrihan and the soap is Mitchell's Wool Fat by Kent. I read the Wiki and Chris Moss' piece on shaving (a must read, IMHO). It went well, though the lather tends to dry out. I added water and reapplied the lather as needed. It was a smooth shave going WTG and XTG. It's not perfect, but for my third straight razor shave, not bad at all. The part that gives me the most trouble is stretching my skin and holding the razor for those tough to reach places on the jaw line and under the chin. But, I'm learning!

Congratulations .It just gets better over time.
Good choice withthe mitchells Woolfat soap ,Iv'e been using it exclusively for about about 2 months now & after an inital breaking in period it just gets ceamier &creamier,so much so that now I have stopped using any preshave products at all. I think this is the only soap that Ill be using from now on ,apart from when I travel.Paul
