How many laps should one make on a strop with a freshly honed razor to get the best result?

laps
it depends so many factors.
strop.pressure,canvas etc etc.
i just learned you can lap untill 100 and get creat results.
My advise will be
do 10-20 on canvas and 30-60 on strop .Try shave with it see what happens.
I am sure will be alot more advises come.

In general 20 to 30 laps on the linen/canvas followed by 40 to 60 on the canvas should be sufficient to bring a razor to a good shaving condition. If you find that you need an excessive number of laps (over 100), there may be something else going on. It is important to keep in mind the purpose and theory of razor stropping, perhaps this link may be helpful:

My strop has a linen side instead of canvas. It's thick linen though. Does that matter?
