Personally, I'd put off learning how to hone for now. I'd wait and see how SR shaving and I got along. If you really want to get something to maintain your straight's edge, I'd pick up a paddle strop and some chrome oxide. Or read up about how to make one with balsa wood - should be fairly easily found anywhere. Pastes are easier to use, and should keep you going for a few months before your razor needs to be touched up on a hone.

Thanked: 1thanks Ray, well that's the problem .. a few months goes by pretty quick and my shipping charges is not just sending around the us , it'll be international shipping so each time i ship will be $20 or so dollars.
i figure i'd go ahead and get all the necessary equipment in 1 pop.

Thanked: 1well, no need to answer this thread anymore.. i took the plunge and went ahead and ordered the dovo tortoise special which is Don & Lynn's starter set.
i bought a 12k hone as well so i can do some touch ups later on ..
can't wait to get my hands on it and compare SR to what i've been doing with DE shaving, it'll be interesting to compare the 2 methods
