My first pass is always WTG and the second a combination of XTG and ATG depending on the area. I only do two passes. I wouldn't do ATG first as I have sensitive skin and I think it would leave me uncomfortable. Some areas such as the upper lip I never do ATG.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I've seen the videos a few times before and they are terrific. You also seem to use a steeper blade angle than I do (or have been courageous enough to try!). I'm really impressed with how swiftly you move through your pass. I seem to take so long that my lather dries all the time. Thanks again!

So I gave it a shot today. I went ATG on my cheeks, jaw and neck. With my upper lip and chin I handled that in the usual way. The process went well and I did not find it uncomfortable. The result was probably a little closer, but I didn't push it too far. I'll try again tomorrow and maybe I'll be a little more aggressive. Thanks for all the insight!

Yes, in here good results after doing ATG first pass (and only too). No irritation and absolutely close shave.
If I do WTG+XTG I must shave every day as I have such a fast grow and thick whiskers.
If going straight to ATG and reach BBS I can skip one day.
Now the funny thing is that I don't want to skip a day. I just want to shave and enjoy every day.
So I usually do WTG+XTG and start the day with shaving meditation. Heh.
When need a closer shave I go direct to ATG and enjoy the closer result.

hm, I find that those areas where I only shave ATG actually doesn't get cut quite as close as where I do two passes.
