Thread: Are there any other Southpaw shavers here?

I am a lefty.
I started using both hands from the beginning. My right hand felt awkward for awhile. ATG on the jawline took the longest.
Just take your time and it will come.


Honing was a different matter.
It took me forever to find a left handed coti!

I'm a lefty also, but I shave with both my left and my right. I definitely have to concentrate a bit more when shaving with my right hand, but it feels normal if less adroit.

I'm entirely a left handed stropper, though. I can't even imagine holding the razor in my right hand to strop it.

I, too, am a leftie, and I haven't yet tried using my right hand for this. I intend to because, shaving the left side of my neck is major trouble! I've figured out some wrist movements that sort of work, but it's just not as easy as the right side. On the other hand... I find that my beard grows in different directions on the left side of my face than on my right! Should I switch hands? or...

Anyway, I'm still trying to work on my quickie-after-the-shower-no-bi-focals allowed-once-down-once-up-walk-away technique, but it may require the ambidextrous approach to make it really work. Time will tell...

I am left handed, but I shave with both and strop left.

I have a Japanese straight and I can tell you that even ambidexterity will not save you. I stood looking in the mirror completely frozen, trying to get my brain around this piece of steel.

Bizarre is right. JStr8s are an art of themselves simply because you are using an item designed to be used on you by someone else, not to be used by you on you.

I am a leftie but use my right hand for writing and lost of stuff. For shaving and stropping it's only left hand, more dexterity and more assurance.
I have developed a technique and it works fine for me, I have a "goatee" so not to much problem to encounter.

I am right handed, but use both for shaving. I figured that since I was basically learning a new skill, I would teach both hands.

The left hand has cut me more often, but it has smartened up nicely in the past couple of months.

Lefty here! I use both hands for straight shaving. Right hand for left side of face, and left hand for the right.

Another lefty here, though I as well use both hands. Left on left cheek and right neck. Right on right cheek and left neck.

I use the left for the left and the right for the right. Don't you think that your arm gets in the way of the shave?

I have heard of left handed cigarettes, but not left handed razors. Am I missing somethin'?

I am a lefty, and I switch back n' forth willy nilly, depending on the angle I can comfortably achieve.

Try not overthinking it, and concentrate on blade angle instead of "oh lord, now I have to switch hands" while shaving. It worked for me.
