Thanked: 5Hello
My name's Mark and I've just joined this evening. I've been using a straight edge for about a month now and am getting good results. The razors I'm using are both home made from files I rescued from the scrap at work and hand ground on the grinder to a nice hollow on both sides and then sharpened to a 1200 grit paper and honed on a slate then stropped on a strop I made from a strip of marked leather I had left over from making a sheath for a knife.. The first one I dressed in brass scales and although quite comfortable it felt a little awkward to start with so I decided to make the second a fixed blade in a small file handle I had in my tool box. Both work fine and the shave is 100 times better than the twin blades I used to use and without all the razor burn after.
Thanks for looking.
Mark
