No, there is much more to it, It takes some people quite awhile to make their way to "their" type of razor....
First you have to work out all the non razor variables , ie: prep, lather, stropping, sharpness, ability...
Once you have all that down then you can actually start comparing razors and edges....
Most start with grinds first, then progress to styles, and even steel origins.... or you can just shave and have a great time with it....

You can take this hobby/passion as far as you want to...

Right now I'm shaving with a full hollow henkels, and keeping an eye out for a good deal on a nice heavy wedge. I also want to try different points, and different amounts of smiles.

It seems obvious to me, that it would be just as "personal" as any other tool.

Someone who has never done construction for a living might think that all framing hammers are the same. Of course, having spent some time in between college and career doing construction, I can tell you that not only are not all framing hammers the same, but all 21oz framing hammers are not the same.

In fact, not all cold forged, 3/16" waffle faced, ergonomically shaped, hickory handled, epoxy gripped framing hammers are the same.

Each tool will have a particular feel, and balance, which can drastically change it's performance, and it's particular fit for the person wielding it.

I know that is true. Back in the late '60s I drove many a nail with an 18oz Blue Grass with a hickory handle framing and doing roof trusses. Quit the carpenters and got in the ironworkers and started swinging a 6lb hammer. They ain't all the same either.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
