Thread: New Gal Here

Just taking a moment to say "Hello". Used a straight razor for the first time a couple weeks ago and WOWWWW. I fixed up an old Frederick Reynolds 5/8 with new scales, a good crud removal, some polishing, and a whole lot of sharpening. I'm still working on my stropping skills and learning to use hones. I recently purchased a Wostenholm & Sons 5/8 Celebrated IXL to use. Both are good razors. I'm just sure more razors will find the way to my house. I also use DE razors in my stubble mowing arsenal. Nice to be here at SRP and looking forward to learning more!

Welcome! It sounds like you have a good couple of razors in your growing "stubble mowing arsenal". What stones did you use to hone your razor? Oh, and in case you haven't noticed, we love pictures of razors (and stones) , so feel free to display your weapons in your arsenal.

800 to reset the bevel and Norton 4000 to make it nice, then borrowed an 8000 from a buddy, and then a good stropping Alot of work, but well worth it. I rescaled the ole girl with Dovo plastic replacement scales. I'm currently shopping for an 8000 of my own.
