I found that I didn't need to stretch the skin drum tight necessarily. I also tended to overdo it a bit when I was starting out. Now I just snug it up enough to flatten the wrinkles out and tighten it up a bit.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 234damn, I think more downward pressure and less inward pressure would be good news!
I would be scared for life if I didn't stretch my skin, I would have probably sliced off my chin.

Reminds me of the story of someone I knew who was learning Russian and while trying to pronounce some phrase he dislocated his jaw. Or at least that was his story.

When I started reading this thread, I thought that it was going to be about razor burn or irritation, which is common among newbie stretchers. I soon discovered my mistake ;-). C'mon guys, this is shaving. It is supposed to be fun, not a torture chamber. If you find yourself inflicting pain while contorting your body to get that last one piece of hair or lightheaded almost to the point of passing out, there is a chance that you may be doing something unnecessary, wrong or both and likely not worthwhile. I advice to exercise some common sense. Happy stretch free shaving ;-).
