I have a couple of the cheap Chinese "silvertips". Wouldn't call them sivertip myself but I will say they are excellent value and I use mine more often than my kents, shavemacs and B&B posh one!

I mostly face lather and I find them just right for me. Nice middling size and loft and work well with soaps and creams.

Mine are the Virtual Village ones. Cheap doesn't always mean rubbish.

I'm not that keen on buying a brush from ebay. Pictures don't tell the whole story, and I am quite skeptical of a seller's knowledge about them. I save my money and purchase them from a reputable source (we have many vendors here) as I know what I will be getting. The only shaving items I have purchased on ebay are razors. And that's only after I have satisfied myself that it is worth the money spent.

If you're after a cheap badger brush, a lot of people here recommend the Tweezerman brush off Amazon - under $15, proper badger, reliable, and not a bad starter brush at all.

I am with Dan, sellers on ebay typically have nothing to loose by leading you astray. You might not see that seller again on ebay ever. Forum members here stand to loose a lot by leading you astray, if it gets out on this forum that someone lead you astray no one will every buy from him again.

Another way to accomplish this is to pick a manufacterer from comments here and buy one of theirs from what ever internet vendor your can find to sell it to you on the cheap. Since its a well regarded maker they have a reputation to maintain and are not likely to take advantage of you.
