Thanked: 0Newbie equipment question
I'm just getting into straight shaving, and I have found what looks like a good deal on ebay, and I was hoping for opinions.
For $30US it includes: "1 Zeepk old fashioned straight razor * High quality carbon steel easy to sharpen * Tortoise shell colored handle * Full hollow ground biconcave blade with round point * Size: 5 1/2" sharp blade with original box case * Handcrafted by highly skilled craftsmen • Zeepk Professional Razor Strop • BASS finest Quality Shaving Brush Made in Germany wood handle * SOAP"
Any thoughts? This will be my first straight razor. Here is the link to the posting.
Zeepk Straight Razor Strap strop Soap Brush 12 - eBay (item 270418396393 end time Jul-03-09 08:01:03 PDT)
Thanks for your help!

Avoid anything made by Zeepk. Check the Wiki for manufacturers to avoid.
Actually, I'll expand on that, read through the Wiki as much as you can, but not to the extent you overwhelm yourself with barely digested facts. Hang around these forums, pick up a few tips and suggestions and check the classifieds.
Oh ... and welcome to Straight Razor Place!Last edited by dannywonderful; 07-03-2009 at 12:26 AM.

I second that! If you still buy, please do not base your judgement of str8 shaving on the use of these products.

Thanked: 3795I'm sorry to say that at best only the soap and brush will be of any use and given the quality of the other stuff provided by the seller, the odds are good that they are substandard as well.

You could get a good brush for $30, you could even get a good strop for $30, maybe even getting a good deal on a razor from one of the members here for $30, but all three for $30 should set your alarm bells ringing.

Welcome SRP the best place I've found to learn about straight razors and shaving as well as every thing else.
I agree. Let the buyer beware. Look at the classifieds here for a good razor and check with the site sponsers for a strop ,brush, and soap. Always ask questions and learn from the wiki the people here are always helpful. Believe me we here want to see more people master the art of str8 shaving. Just remember as an art we need above standard tools just like a painter, a sculpter, or a carver we need the best tools to learn to produce a masterpiece.Last edited by ENUF2; 07-03-2009 at 03:30 AM.

Thanked: 3As a newbie I will put it this way....The money that I spent on a zeepak special could have gone towards the purchase of a razor here on the classifides. If I had only known.

Thanked: 3795If you have no soul, you could always re-list it on ebay.

Thanked: 317I have personally purchased a set of Zeepk razors, a Zeepk strop, and Zeepk barber hone on ebay.
The feedback you have gotten from everyone else is VERY fair and accurate.
The only positive thing I can say about the experience is that it only took me 2 months to get a refund through the paypal dispute system.
In fact, just yesterday I got an email from another ebay member who had seen the feedback I left for albarkat2009 (who sold me the zeepk garbage, agreed to a refund, and then suddenly forgot how to speak english after I'd sent the garbage back) asking if I had any advice for them attempting to get a refund.
