There are many variables that affect a shave. Elimnate the easily eliminated: get a shave ready blade or have yours made shave ready by a honemeister....many available here; learn good shave prep...fairly easy; make time for your shave so you aren't rushed...go at it. I'd venture that most of us were, at one time, where you are....I most certainly was, not that long ago! Good shaving.

Mate, i dont know what it could be.

Sounds like your doing everything right.
To be not removing hair much even after a few passes is very odd. All i can think is dull razor though.

Is anyone in this guys area that can go over and have a go with his straight and check his technique out?

    Im outa ideas

Alright good news, I had a half way decent shave today. Got a decent wtf and accrost the grain shave on my cheeks. I got adventurous and decided to do under my lip as well but I got cut for it (hahaha small steps) I was very happy with the progress I am making with my straight razor shave.

So what did you do different.

Please read through this http://straightrazorpalace.com/srpwiki/index.php/First_straight_razor_shave and see if it doesn't help some. The most important thing for new shavers is to get comfortable with the razor and the cutting angle. It really works better if you take it a little at a time. Based on what you are saying and your improved progress, this is most likely your problem.

    Have fun,

assuming your razor is sharp, your prep is good and your stropping is done right, then you should examine your technique. as 147 pointed out, i have videos demonstrating it.

if i had to guess from your description, i'd say you're not stretching the skin enough, but who knows.
