    +1 to Gugi. The other benefit with getting a razor that is honed properly is that you will not be "guessing" if it is honed correctly when you shave with it. If you look around the classifieds and shops there are some very good razors for sale at decent prices. In any case once you get the bug you will be on Ebay all the time... RAD can be all consuming!

    Gugi and tdgrunt are totally correct. Getting a razor that is truly shave ready is the most invaluable thing a new straight razor shaver can acquire. Lets you know what sharp really is and, when you inevitably start sharpening up flea market/ebay/etc acquisitions you know what you're aiming for.
