Welcome ! My first strop was a Jemico , which is a little on the small side . But it served me well until I bought my Tony Miller Artisan strop .
Greetings , from Dundalk , Maryland . The place where normal people , fear to go .

Thanked: 1587I would take a look around these forums - there are, I think, a few people here who make a cheaper beginner's strop. You can definitely trust the guys here.

18.00 dollars, what is nice too is when you are done getting your technique down you can use it as a travel strop, or paste it.

RupRazor - Strops
the "filly" is $20 and I believe the owner is a member here so you can get answers to any questions. Haven't used it personaly but I'm sure people who have will chime in to reassure you of its quality.
Also TM (tony miller thewellshavedgentleman.com) strops have the option to pay and extra $8 to add a practice strop to the order that way you only pay shipping once get a practice strop to tear up and a nice strop for when your ready.
hope this helps, good luck!

If you have the money this is a much better way to go, since I have never heard a bad comment on tony miller strops. I plan on getting one myself but wife has told me to stop buy razor stuff for a while

The Filly is working out well for me, its my first strop ever and i dont really have much to compare it too. But it seems to keep the edge on both my blades i have right now. He also ships all his strops with the rough side pasted, this will help you to touch up your edge every week or so. And hopefully keep you from having to ship away your new blade too soon.
