Thanked: 137Hmmm. My local barber told me today they can get strops and straights in if someone wants them (since it's a fairly niche market, fair enough they don't have some there the whole time). I think he said ~$105 for a razor (didn't think to ask the brand) and a bit under a hundy for an IRSC #827 strop. Good to know there's at least two locations in NZ that'll do new razors for an alright price.

There's good stuff out there if you look
I remember seeing some decent vintage blades in a couple of antique shops in Christchurch, and a couple of barbershops dealing in Trumper's and Truefitt & Hill products as well. I bought a Bengall in an antique shop in Omarama and a Gotta in Geraldine. Then there were some nice old Gillette DEs in a little junkshop we stopped in on our way down to Milford Sound. If memory serves, Wairarapa is in the North Island? I didn't get much chance to look around for razors up there, but keep your eyes open - the hunt is half the fun of collecting vintage razors.
Welcome and Greetings from the Great White North
