After watching this video yesterday, making a lather started to click for me. Hope you find it useful. I think it was even posted on this forum but I couldn't find the thread.

after trying several times to make lather it does not seem as thick as it should be i have tried with more water, less water, spending more time swirling with the brush just about everything i can think of, i have watched all the videos and read just about everything in the wiki, do you think that adding a cream along with my soap would help

What soap are you using? Are you using your palm, a mug, or bowl or face lathering?
Adding a cream should be an option, it shouldn't be needed.

how long do you spend mixing? It takes about 1-3 minutes to get a lather whipped up sometimes.
Try starting out with your brush barely damp load it with soap and start whipping then add water every 30sec-1 min ( it took more water than I thought when I started) and keep mixing till you go from dry to perfect(cool whip) to runny soap that way you'll know about how much water to start off w/ next time.
it takes alot of time my wrists still aren't use to the motion (insert "thats what she said" here)
also I heard adding glycerin will help w/ volume. you can get it at walmart in the pharmacy section. Also tabac has given me the best alther so far but i've been using the cheap stuff (williams vdh) you should be goos w/ your setup.
