Thanked: 326From one noob to another welcome aboard!
Your handle looks very familiar would you be happen to be on MA or HT by any chance?
Don't forget to pick a set of Norton waterstones. There's 2 left:
Amazon.com: Norton Waterstone Starter Kit: 220/1000 grit stone, 4000/8000 grit stone, SiC flattening stone: Home Improvement
For $115 you can't go wrong. These are said to be good starter kit. Once you get used to honing you can move on to Naniwa and everthing else. But
it's matter of preference.
Check out the classifieds. Most razors there go anywhere from 30-1000. The $30 ones are great to start with and are actually in good-to great condition.
You needn't worry about getting scammed. The members are very trustworthy I know that's hard to believe seeing as I'm new but if you've read some threads I have you'll know what I mean.
Best of luck
