they are everywhere. walmart has them. My advise don't use oil when you use straight razor. i have tried only ones and almost cut all other my face. my hand wasn't able to stretch the skin hope this helps.

Thanked: 1903Feed google with "pre shave oil make yourself". This recipe looks about right: How to Make Pre-shave Oil | eHow.com.
I use mine (AOS and CF, which is actually a balm) for DE shaves. I don't need them for straight shaving, although they certainly add a bit of luxury to the shave. If you apply only the required amount, there won't be any problems with stretching your skin, either.

You can Proraso pre shave cream. It's not bad, and not as expensive. SRD has it, and you can get it on Amazon. It's usually about 12 or 13 bucks. It's more like a cold cream, and can be used as a Post shave too, so it's a multi tasker. I think it'll give you the desired affect.....

Every once in awhile I use pre-shave oil when straight razor shaving. I use the Walmart Shave Secret (www.ShaveSecret.com) oil, costing about $3.
Before moving to straights, I used this pre-shave oil exclusively for about one year when shaving. No shaving cream or gel; just the pre-shave oil. And, I liked it better than creams. Closer, smoother, less irritation. There is one characteristic of the oil that I would like to describe, as it ties in with use of this pre-shave oil with straight razor shaving. Apply the oil to your face, and oddly, within a few minutes your skin is dry again; too dry to shave. But, and this is mentioned in the instructions, just wet your face with water and immediately that portion of your face is as slick and oily as when first applied.
If you tried to shave with a straight razor using this pre-shave oil only, and I've done it 2 or 3 times, it would work and work reasonably well. Rub the oil over your face. If you need to stretch your skin, rub that spot with a wash rag and you will get traction. Rewet to shave that spot and away you go.
I am not trying to talk you into use of the pre-shave oil. (Now, when I use it, I apply it to my face and then apply shave soap over top.) I find the lathering with shave soap more effective, and more enjoyable. But, oil is worth trying.
$3. Try it, and you'll find a niche for it.

I have a bottle of TH pre-shave oil and find that the scent is great. As far as the shave goes, I'm not totally convinced it really adds that much more to my shave that I need to spend 30.00 bucks a bottle for. So, the jury is still out for me. Maybe I just love the scent too much.....

Thanked: 190Here is a better solution, use Castille Soap. 1/2 of it already has the essential oils in it and and its much cheaper than preshave oil. An $11 purchase will get you a quart or close to it and you can use this for other appliations such as washing your hands, face,...etc. Any health store will sell it.
It also helps your first face lather, lather up faster, thus using less soap.
