Thanked: 1honing pyramid
i've seen the short segment of lynn's honing pyramid with an 4/8k norton. i have a 12k naniwa also. so,,,,when i go to the 12k should i use a similar pyramid with the 8k norton and 12k naniwa? thanks

Lynn will be the best person to answer your question . I would say don't mix up 2 different stones. they cut differently etc.

Until Lynn gets here I would say that the way I understand and follow the method is to set the bevel on a coarse stone if necessary. Pyramid on the 4k/8k and then if further polishing of the edge is desired go to a higher grit stone.
If you go to this wiki link here and this one here you'll find a lot of reading on Lynn's methods and honing philosophy.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 4942My recommendation would be that after you do the pyramid on the 4/8K, to do 10-15 strokes on the 12K and paste if you use it and on to the strop or just head for the strop and a test shave.
