I found this place and all the great information. I knew then that it would be possible to make the shift. Seems appropriate to say thank-you again SRP.

I basically started completely on a SR, didn't really need to make a switch.

Thanked: 1212I performed my last facial massacre with a dull DE blade (the electric device had broke down years before that). Then I decided to stop being the only guy I knew who couldn't shave properly. I spend some time online to research the best possible shaving gear. I read about the virtues of the straight razor. A few days later, I got a silversteel Dovo, a Dovo "Russian" strop, a Omega boar brush and Plisson soap, all from a renowned razor shop in Antwerp.
I never looked back.

As soon as a got my first straight.
I kept getting cuts, and the first time i looked like id gone through a car windscreen / had a fight with a cat! But i was persistent, and funnily enough enjoyed it...even looked forward to it! Still do!

On one Sunday, I thought my first straight razor (I ordered from SRD) was going to arrive, the next day, so I did one last shave with my Fusion Power. After I had finished the shave, I slammed it on the counter and told it, "that's enough of you".
I didn't shave until that Friday, when my straight razor finally showed up.
I did use the Fusion for touch ups, the first few days but haven't touched it since then, unless I need to clean the sink.
Yes; the Fusion has not been thrown out, yet. I thought about it tossing in the trash in a small symbolic ceremony, but I think I enjoy mocking it more by letting watch me shave with the straight.

I decided to start switching to a straight razor the day I proved to my dad that using a straight razor wasn't suicide.
I've pretty much made the switch since then and just got my second razor. 2 down, 5 to go.
