    Great advice Chief, this is the setup I'm thinking of buying for my starter set, except I'm going to add the 3" strop.

    A great starter razor is Dovo. As long as your not too fussy about the scales, or handles, they can be had for less than 100.00 Straight Razor Designs has the best prices on the net, and 10% off right now, plus it'll be honed by Lynn. You know it'll be ready to go. Then you can work on your technique. You'll need a strop, and some soap or shave cream. SRD has great strops, but you will pay for the quality. Someone mentioned Kenrup, or ruprazor. He's has great, affordable beginner strops. Welcome to the forum....
