    Default Introduction

    Hey Everyone,

I've been reading these forums for a while now and figured it was time to dive in! A little background first, because everyone seems to be extremely friendly:

I'm currently a second year law student (queue lawyer jokes ) and will probably also get my MBA, so a superb shave will certainly be a necessity for me. Not to mention, the reports of relaxation/clarity during shave time sounds like an excellent solace from day-to-day "crap". I'll be getting married next September and we have a black lab-pitbull mix that's acting like a complete nut right now...(think getting him into weight pulling might be something, thank you Mr. Toes and Basil for that idea) The fiance is a little nervous about having such a sharp tool by my throat, but I think I've quelled the majority of those fears so far, any other arguments against the possibility of slicing open my jugular would be helpful...

Onto the supplies...I have yet to purchase my first razor and other accessories, but I was targeting the Boker Edelweiss on SRD, then I noticed last night they were no longer listed. Now I'm considering the Dovo Renaissance. I realize these might be a little pricier than necessary or suggested for a first razor, but I do want something new (part of one of the conditions the fiance had, haha) and something that I will be satisfied with forever (not withstanding this RAD phenomenon). I also planned on grabbing one of the SRD strops, an Omega Boar Brush, and probably some Mitchell's Wool Fat (to start).

Thanks all for the excellent chatter on the forums and for building, what looks like, an amazing community!

Welcome to SRP. You already made some good choices. Boker's are nice, as are Dovo's. I have several and all are good shavers. As a matter of fact, I just bought a Bergisher Lowe from SRD and I love it. You will need a strop. Their premium 1 is quite popular and I heard good things about the IV model too. A silver tip badger is the best brush, and MWF is some great soap, very mild, has tallow in it, so it builds a great lather. SRD has awesome soaps too. You've made some excellent choices and it sounds like your well on your way to building a healthy obsession.....
