Default After 6 weeks of Str8 shaving....

....there's been a definite improvement overall to the condition of my skin.

It's not perfect, but I'm not experiencing as much pain, as I usually do where ingrowns have been known to infest, torture, and mock me.

Now, I can't say that it is all due to the act of straight shaving alone, but it is definitely all because of straight shaving, as I have never paid as much attention to skin care as I have since I took up the straight edge.

I also noticed an even bigger jump in the improvement of my skin since I picked up some samples of Anthony Logistics Ingrown Hair Treatment. It's a gel with an apparently high concentration of salicylic acid, and a little goes a long way. The guy that gave me the samples said a lot of guys swear by this stuff, but it's so pricey he thought I should try it out for a month or so, before I plunked down 30 bucks for a bottle. He gave me enough for two or three months ( a little does go a really long way). He told me to put it on before bed and after I wash my face, and then wash it off it the morning. Stuff works great (for me). I highly recommend it, but I would suggest if anyone else out there has major problems with ingrown hairs that they get themselves some samples of the stuff first. I hate to see someone waste a lot of money on something that doesn't work for them, and would hate it more if they bought it based on my recommendations.

So, I owe those of you who have professed that straight shaving is better for sensitive faces, than disposable multi-blade cartridge shaving is, a great big THANK YOU!

You are correct sirs!! And my skin's a lot happier for the knowing.

    Thanks again gentlemen.

Thanks hi bud gl. Coincidently, I was just watching your honing videos on YouTube this evening!! How come they aren't here? There's a lot of good information in your videos. Thanks for putting them out there. I eat up anything having to do with honing. I took the plunge recently, and came across a used norton 4k/8k. It was cheap, and I figured if I lapped it and lapped it and lapped it; it would be worth it, and I think it just might be. Took me over an hour, but she's flat now! And, I'm "this close" to getting an antiques market cheapy shave ready.

I have another beginner's luck story to tell, but it'll have to wait until tomorrow or the next day, as I am in a lot of pain tonight and need to get to bed. Or soak myself in epsom salts with some scotch or something to ease the pain.

Anyway, my first attempts at straight shaving myself have been a complete joy. And I owe that entirely to the members here who have shared their experiences and in some cases, those who were so generous in getting me started, with a straight, a strop and some good soap. I feel blessed to have found this place. There are some really awesome people here.

And reading about so many members' enthusiasm about shaving ( of all things!) really gave me the confidence to go for it; I didn't worry about cutting myself. I knew I would (and I did) , but I also knew it wouldn't be any worse than how those multi blades chewed up my face! (and it wasn't....at all)
I also knew I'd have way more control over those cuts, whereas with a multi blade, you don't always know you've chewed up your face until you're almost done your shave. And they really do cause ingrown hairs!

It's amazing how painful ingrown hairs can be, especially when you get a whole bunch of them in one spot. Well, I'm not experiencing any more pain in those areas, at all, anymore. I suddenly realized I wasn't feeling like someone was jabbing my chin and neck repeatedly with a bunch of sewing needles. It's a really refreshing change. And it's absolutely FANTASTIC, when the "hype" actually matches the reality! My shaves keep getting smoother, and my face is really clearing up. It's never been this clear. Last time, was when I grew a beard and just stopped shaving. So yeah, I am totally converted to this kind of shaving.

I can honestly say that all the good things said about shaving with a straight, isn't actually "hype", because for me so far, it's been the truth.

And I owe the informed choices I am making to all the people here who have been so generous with their time and knowledge. It's made the transition really quite smooth. And really helps minimize unnecessary newbie mistakes. Some mistakes are a given, and they help you in the end, but some can be and with the right information, should be, avoided.
For instance, had I not come here, I might have found myself in possession of a Zeepk razor. And given my budget, I might have thought it was a good idea for me to get one, when in reality, it would have been a complete waste of money (however little), and might have actually put me off shaving with a straight. Luckily, I came here.

This forum really is dominated by great people. Glad I joined. I don't normally like signing up or registering in forums, but I'm glad I did here.
