Ivory Scales
So I've done a little bit of searching but have realized that the best way to get answers is just ask on SRP. Where is the best place to get a straight razor with ivory scales? Keeping in mind that budget is an issue (I could probably go up to a couple hundred dollars as far as asking 'ol Santa Claus for one goes
).
Thanks in advance,
Brent

Where to go
From what I have seen, the classifieds here are good. Only been here a day myself though...

Yeah but the tension of hoping a nice ivory SR will pop up on the classifieds is killer haha

Thanked: 0Yeah definitely agree with igglepud. Another place is Ebay, I'm constantly looking and they do come up occasionally!
Good luck with the hunt!

Place a WTB (want to buy) ad in the classifieds. Never know your luck

I'd like to say this will respect and good will: I'm a bit hesitant about ivory myself since the demand for for it was what caused the vast amount of hunting and poaching in the first place. There are other good scale materials out there and in any case I rather concentrate on the blade itself. That is not to say that you should rip any ivory out of existing razors, but ivory simply isn't a selling point to me. I prefer my Nelly the Ellyphant stomping away somewhere out there. But that's just my opinion.

I agree, the best option is to get it from a member. On ebay you have to know what you're doing and if you already know that you wouldn't be asking here
I love ivory and it's an important selling point for me. Meaning that a razor with ivory scales is a lot more desirable than one with say acrylic, wooden, composite, horn, etc.Last edited by gugi; 10-21-2009 at 07:46 AM.

Also I believe ebay now blocks sellers from selling anything with the word ivory in the description. They may say"natural material not horn or bone" but you still won't know if it's ivory just because they think it might be.

John over at the Shavingshop usually has a few. He is a nice guy to do business with.

Thanked: 21I have one in Ivory but would never part with it as it was my grandpa's. I've also got a very nice one with tortoiseshell, it will be interesting to see if ebay lets me put it up when I'm ready.
