Thread: STRAIGHT RAZOR PRICEING

I have a number of Dovo razors, ranging in price from the Best to the Berg Lowe.
If you are looking for value, then the Dovo Best is for you
A Best 5/8 half-hollow was the first razor I bought when I re-started shaving with a straight; it gives an excellent shave, and responds well to pasted strops. Given that it is well priced and very easy to maintain, I would certainly recommend it.
Best regards

I'm the same, I'd usually go for great blade with basic scales. For me the scales don't really add much as my razors are for shaving with rather than looking at. That's not to say I don't appreciate artistic looking scales, I just wouldn't buy one.
I bought a Maestro Livi Takeda Damascus razor once, but I just bought it with the cheapest scales he made - olivewood. Partly it was due to price, but honestly if I'd had an extra £500 at the time I wouldn't have spent it on say Mammoth Ivory scales, I'd have bought another decent razor with plain scales instead.

Thanked: 0RAZOR VALUE - STEEL VS SCALES & ARTWORK
Gentlemen
I am very gratefull for your reply. You have given me additional insight into Straight Razor value. As so many of you indicated, it all comes down to the shave. Cosmetics are great, but my razors are not wall hangers and I do not have unlimited funds.
Thanks
