    Default Shaving in the field

Alotamoxy, welcome to the SRP. I recommend taking a straight razor. preferably two, to Afghanistan. I don't know what your job is, however, if you end up on a combat outpost don't expect a lot of creature comforts.

Some of the other members made a pretty good topic about shaving in the field here - http://straightrazorpalace.com/newbi...tml#post472810.

Thank you for volunteering to support and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies foreign and domestic.

justacat, if you want to discuss just war theory please take it to an off topic forum instead of harassing a new shaver. I also believe there's something about that in the http://straightrazorpalace.com/rules...s-conduct.html.

I was going to try, but I couldn't add anything to that. Thanks

I have a friend in the Army National Guard who was deployed to Afghanistan to train the Afghan National Army. Depending on the base, you may have access to supplies. They were a 2-day convoy trip each way from the nearest PX, which was out of any sort of shaving stuff regularly.

We ended up outfitting several guys in his unit with DE razors & blades, brushes & soaps. Ziploc has some nice containers with screw-on lids that work well for soaps. A shavette might be a great back-up to take with you, since DE blades are small & weigh virtually nothing.

Thank you, sir, for your great service!

+1 on the shavette. You'll probably want something you don't have to worry or keep track of since you'll have your eyes on other things. No worry about the strop, etc.

Be safe! Shavette sounds like the way to go while you are over there. And when you get back, treat yourself to a nice razor and supplies

    Thanks for your service!

I have no idea what the conditions are over there, so I don't know what to tell you. Just wanted to thank you for your service.
