I rinse as I go simply because the soap build up gets in the way. At the end of your shave you should rinse it under the hottest water available for several seconds then dry it. The blade will remain very hot and this will dry off any residual moisture and prevent tarnish.

    Aza,

My grandfather wiped his razor on a piece of newspaper as there was no running water in the farmhouse; I rinse mine as I'm fortunate to have water which runs. I think Lynn's video shows him rinsing then wiping on a towel. There are lots of ways to get the sludge off the blade, just be alert to where the edge is and what it's doing.

Just rinse in hot water to get the whiskers and shave cream off. Run the water on the upper part of the blade face, closest to the spine.

I rinse while shaving. If you rinse with hot water, it heats the steel, and I think improves the shave a bit. Water will not harm the blade. When your done, rinse, wipe and allow it to dry. When your finished shaving, and moisture is an issue, you can wipe the blade down with a silicone treated gun cleaning cloth (Thanks Jimmy) or a light coating of Camellia oil for long term storage....

I wipe on a damp barber's towel that I keep folded on the sink. I keep a few of them around for that.

With my KAI or my Feather AC, I just rinse them off while I'm shaving.

I just rinse in running water. I used to swirl in the sink, but I banged the spine on the sink once and that scared me enough to quit. I do like swirling in the sink better, but my sink just isn't the right shape.
