Thanked: 20I'd definitely go with the BL... a true work of art. Micartas are a bit more... tacky? They're not the same blades as the nicer #41... but will usually keep their edge longer. I even feel like my 41 gives more of an unforgiving shave than any of my carbon blades.

jesitz76,
Ah decision, decisions
I too have both, and they are both excellent shavers.
I use the Dovo Micarta stainless for mostly travel use when I am on business, due to ease of maintenance.
I tend to use the Berg Lowe as one of my 'weekend' razors.
I think if you are after an 'everyday' shaver go for the Micarta; if you after something a bit more special go for the Berg Lowe.
Or get both; RAD resistance is futile
Have fun !
Best regards
Russ

I was in a similar situation as I was trying to figure which good Dovo to buy and suddenly the reinassance came to my attention. It's a 6/8 stainless steel with very fancy scales. Any of you guys have any experience with this razor??? (it's even cheaper than the other two). I'm planning to save some money for the next couple of months to get either this or the Berg Lowe.... but I just can't decide
Thanks!!!

I myself have the Dovo Ivory Micarta and I love it. It's been awhile since I've used it because it's more like my travel razor. It's a great shaver for sure. A true Gem! I find the other one tacky. But that's me.

If you have the cash buy both as no doubt that the nagging voice saying I wonder if that other one would have been better will bug you if you do not!
RAD has already got most of us on here and there is no return once passed the threshold!

Thanked: 190Either one will deliver a great shave. I'm not keen on the Buffalo Horn Scale. I think the Buffalo needs it more than we do.

After reading this thread on my first day on this site I ended up buying the BL from SRD.
It arrived today.
Facing a bit of a dilemma at the moment. I'm waiting for a cheap Cyril R Slater I bought some time back but never used as it was never shave ready ( Yes I know it is on the avoid list had it way before I found this site) to come back from sharpening. Don't know if I should wait for it to arrive and shave with it first and then the BL and compare bad with good or to go ahead and shave with the BL.
Any suggestions.

Not sure how my stropping will be, did practice abit before when I first got the Cyril, but don't think I was doing it correctly.
One of the reasons why I thinking of using the Cyril first to practice both the shave and stropping before progressing to the BL.
