dropping my razor!!!
I finally shaved with my gold dollar tonight and i stropped and brought my dovo with me just in case. When i finished i went to go pick both of them up and somehow the dovo slipped right through my fingertips and landed on my tiles. It dropped from about 3 feet to tile. But luckily the razor was closed. I looked at it with the light. There wasnt any chips or any sign that the bevel was messed up in any way. But I am still worried that there might be this microscopic thing that i dont see. Does anyone have any advice? Should i still send it in just in case?

Thanked: 0It definitely wouldn't hurt to give it a light hone and if you don't know how to you could always send it to one of the honemasters and they will take care of it for you.
Good luck!

strop it that should tell you if theres something really wrong

Wow ! That is really rough. If that happened to me I would be heart sick.
I bought a razor from the flea market last week with a broken handle and was going to restore it. The blade was nice and it was a Sheffield. Picked it up and droped it in the shop yesterday. It is history. If it had been a new Dovo I would have been sick. I sure hope yours is still in perfect shape. Mack

Thanked: 39The above feedback makes sense to me. Since the razor was closed, you might be OK. I dropped mine in the sink open and did damage. See my thread:

If you can pick up a jeweler's loop and see it at 20X, it will need honing, I think. My chip was 1/3rd the bevel and needed honing. You might try stopping on linen and see if the razor snags. Good luck.
The only other suggestion is to try shave with it, you will quickly know if something is wrong.....

Just strop and shave test . if anything wrong with edge you will feel it. Everything fine then great. Not send it out. GL

I think your razor is fine. I think any significant damage would be obvious upon a close examination. If it were me, I certainly wouldn't bother sending it off.

I agree with the others. If you have a magnifying glass, that will help you get a better look at the bevel. Also, Jeweler's Loupe's 10x are very cheap, a few dollars at most. At least you'll be at ease. Many times, when you strop a blade with a nick, it will leave tell tale cut lines in your strop. I once bought a restored DD Goldedge. To my horror, when it hit my Red Latigo, it left big cut lines all down the strop. I saw nothing with the naked eye. The lines were very noticeable, but came out. I had to re set the bevel, etc....
